We're HOME!

Hello! I am so sorry this getting-home blog has taken so long to write!  It seems like we have been running at 80 mph ever since Bob and Stew brought us back last Thursday late afternoon! So ... to finish.  We made it home!  Up about 4 am and out of the hotel a bit before 5 am.  Truly, the hotel is located at Gate E or F, and we had to walk all the way down the corridor to something like G -- it was that convenient!  Checked the bags in quickly, and, as it was still early, we were through inspection and waiting for the plane in truly minutes. Both flights -- from Mexico City to Houston and from Houston to Tucson were on time and not quite full.  Robert had an empty seat in his row between MC and Houston, and I had an empty seat next to me to Tucson.  Easy, uneventful flights both, with arrival as scheduled.  (The only difficulty we had was that when we landed at Houston, it took probably 20-25 minutes for someone to figure out how to pull up...

It’s suddenly Winter!

Hola! Up this morning at the usual time, and bathed and breakfasted by about 8 am.  As it turns out, winter seems to have descended upon Mexico City!  We heard it rain last night on the 23 rd floor, and the temperature was scheduled for quite a drop.  Well, this morning it was a very foggy and wet day downtown, although we didn’t realize  HOW  cold it was until we got out of the elevator on the ground floor!   Brrrrrrr … somewhere in the low 40’s!  (We have been so lucky with the weather these past two weeks – shorts weather until now, but this is definitely blue jeans, jacket and scarf weather.) Salsa made from scratch at the table! Salsa and guacamole! Our HUGE Flautas! My chicken fajitas Along with recently made corn tortillas! And Robert's garlic shrimp! As we didn’t have far to go – the airport – today, we stayed in our junior suite until almost noon, when we checked out at the...

A lovely Monday in Mexico City!

Hola! A wonderful Monday in Mexico City!  We were up around 6:30 am and then up to the Lounge for breakfast about 7:30 am.  Back to our suite for a bit, as most sight-seeing things aren’t necessarily open yet.   Beautiful artwork around the corner! It's COSTCO! Loved the ceiling! Ray at the Aquarium! Fish with arms and legs!!!! Loved all the color! And a great tiny frog! Some sort of lizard ... love his "hat!" Art Museum across from the Aquarium Quite a building! At the market! Some beautiful copper pieces! As well as colorful ceramics! Our brochette at Go Tan! Our potato dish! And flan for dessert! And view from our room! I wanted to see a good Mexico City Market, so found  La  Ciudadela , not too far from the Hilton.  However, we got there about 8:30-9 am and found that there were only a few shops open.  So … we decided to go to...
